RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Allan Wu serves as Chief Medical Officer for the Regenerative Surgery Institute, managing partner for Regenerative Resources, LLC and Chief Scientific Officer for StemExo. He also serves as the Chairman for the Clinical Translation of Stem Cells Summit by Select Biosciences. He is a graduate of The University of Rochester School of Medicine (1992-1996) and completed: General Surgical Internship at Virginia Mason, Seattle (1996-1997), Fellowship in Surgical Molecular Biology (UCLA 1997-1999) and Surgical Residency in OB/GYN (Bethesda Tri-Health 1999-2003). He has completed further specialty fellowship training in Molecular Embryology (Bourn Hall Clinic, Cambridge, UK) and Cosmetic Surgery (American Board of Cosmetic Surgery) and Phlebology (American Board of Phlebology). He is a full fellow with the American College of Surgeons and is also a Certified Tissue Banking Specialist and full member of the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB).

His research activities have focused on translational technologies for improving safety and reliable outcomes in regenerative medicine. He was the first to show human clinical proof of concept in using dieletrophoresis to filter live versus dead adipose derived stem cells for use in hand reconstruction. He continues to promulgate and foster research collaborations and ties between industry, organized medicine and world regulatory agencies for the purpose of advancing regenerative medicine. He has served as the Jeanne C. Mowe Memorial Key Note Lecturer for the AATB (2011) covering early regulatory issues related to HCT/Ps and adult mesenchymal stem cells. He also serves as clinical faculty to the World Stem Cell Summit and has spoken in plenary sessions regarding the ethical and regulatory compliant use of stem cells in the U.S. and abroad. He has been a member of the International Stem Cell Society since 2011 and served as Clinical Advisor for the medical section. He is also an active medical volunteer serving as Clinical Director for the Remote Area Medicine (RAM) Coachella Valley medical mission, providing free indigent care throughout the Riverside community.
