My study will aim to focus on the regeneration of pulp /dentine through both cell-based and cell free pulp/dentin transplanting exogenous stem cells into the root canal system of the host to allow regeneration to take place. Cell free approach is aimed at to use resorbable scaffold using plant proteins containing antimicrobial properties.
Additionally, we are also studying the role of yet-un-culturable bacteria in the oral microbiome and their possible implications in dental and systemic diseases. Bacterial products of oral bacteria are implicated in systemic diseases such as Rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer's disease etc. Also, metabolic products of oral bacteria such as butyrate show positive correlation with incidence of oral cancer.
Hence, our study collectively aim at the microbial cause of tooth degeneration and their regeneration through novel resorbable scaffold based stem cell implantation.
